What is the shield method?
A steel frame called a shield machine drives through the ground to excavate tunnel segments and make a main tunnel at the same time by combining those segments.
What is the slurry shield method?
The surface of the tunnel excavated by a shield machine is stabilized with pressurized slurry.
The sand and slurry is transferred to the ground surface through a pipe. Then the sand and slurry is separated. The sand is collected and the slurry is used again.
